The international friendly tournament PUBG Mobile Showmatch on the evening of June 15, 2019 was interrupted after the PUBG Mobile game account of the hot streamer participating in the tournament was blocked by the game publisher VNG.
Regarding the PUBG Mobile Showmatch tournament organized by Facebook Gaming and OTA between friendly streamer in Southeast Asia, the tournament in the evening of June 15, 2019 was interrupted when the game in PUBG Mobile of the hot streamer participating in the competition is blocked by VNG game publisher.
As ICTnews reported, before the tournament took place for a few hours, VNG spoke out against Facebook because it thought that the organization of the showmatch between streamer in Southeast Asia (including Vietnam) would take place in PUBG Mobile without the coordination with VNG is "VNG's act of disregard and copyright infringement". VNG is the official publisher of PUBG Mobile in Vietnam.
According to OTA representative, this friendly online tournament aims to strengthen solidarity, cohesion, and create a useful playground among Facebook content creators in the region.
Despite VNG's reactions, the tournament of PUBG M International Show Match still took place normally and was livestream on the Facebook platform of all hot streamer participants, in which Vietnam region has 5 typical streamer including Nam Blue, Ngan Assassin, Tuan Kon, Tuandola, Khanh Viet Kieu.
However, after about 30 minutes, an incident happened when suddenly a series of accounts participated in the tournament was thrown out. Recorded on Nam Blue's channel, a series of Vietnamese and international playing accounts are locked for 30 days. Notice issued by PUBG Mobile system states as follows:
"Your account has attended an unofficial event, violating PUBG Mobile's copyright law in Vietnam. Your account will be locked within 30 days, opened on July 15, 2019", quoted notification.
Thus, due to this clear key, the friendly tournament without PUBG M International Show Match may be halted. After the accounts were "nicked" suddenly, many Facebook followers of these hot streamer booed, proved to be very frustrating.
Game PUBG Mobile is licensed by VNG in Vietnam. Answer ICTnews on the afternoon of June 15, 2019, VNG's media representative said that the PUBG Mobile tournament was held in Vietnam but not yet approved by VNG.
“We are only aware of this event through information in the press. As a publisher of PUBG Mobile in Vietnam, VNG has not cooperated with Facebook Gaming to organize any event, ”said VNG representative.
VNG representative also said: “According to the information we know through newspapers and social media, this event is organized by Facebook Gaming and OTA is the media sponsor. You organize based on the international version of PUBG Mobile. This seems to be the first time Facebook Gaming has done this in Vietnamese territory and according to VNG, the event is not in accordance with the current legal regulations on licensing a event with a licensed game. And it is also disrespectful, but if it is more correct, is violating VNG's PUBG Mobile copyright in Vietnam.
VNG added: VNG sent a notice to Facebook to protest this. VNG has been approved by the Ministry of Information and Communications to approve the script for PUBG Mobile with strict and detailed terms of responsibility, so VNG must bear all responsibility for the image of PUBG Mobile at Vietnam. A PUBG Mobile tournament that takes place without VNG's approval can also cause unfortunate misunderstandings, which are detrimental to VNG's reputation.
